We'd like to share with you to story of the Burkhart Family, who we are fundraising to help through our Home Run Derby, Youth Baseball Clinic, and Stars & Stripes Classic this year. Please share this story and help us spread the word!

Dolly (70yrs old) and Bill (75yrs old) Burkhart of Douglassville, PA were just like any normal American Grandparents. Worked hard their entire lives, raised an amazing family and saved for retirement.

In 2008 the stock market hit them hard and they lost almost everything. In 2011 they chose to Pull out the remaining funds they had and they were forced to continue working to make ends meet. Then their entire lives were changed by a catastrophic freak accident.

In September of 2013 Bill tripped and fell breaking his neck and severely damaging his spinal cord. He is now paralyzed from the chest down with a number of other medical ailments and requires 24 hour a day care provided mostly by Dolly. This injury has left them both unable to work any longer.

What little savings they had is quickly being spent on home health care aides, items necessary for living, and other fundraising monies are quickly being exhausted, their amazing family is bonding together to do everything they can to keep Dolly and Bill leading as normal a life as possible as well as keep, under these new very stressful conditions. These conditions are radiating out to the extended family as everyone’s time and resources are being depleted by this tragedy.

Dolly and Bill are very thankful for their friends and families support. Bill is a veteran and they have both always given a hand to other’s their entire lives and now they desperately need some help of their own.
